If you open your options a bit to things you might have never tried before, there are some easy, inexpensive options for healthy snacks to bring on the go. You can even make some of them at home.

Kale Chips

Speaking of making things at home, kale chips are an incredibly easy, inexpensive, homemade snack. You just turn the oven to 350 and bake kale for 10-15 minutes. Put in a baggie with some salt and you have a low calorie, easy to-go snack.

Yogurt

If you won’t be waiting long to dig into your snack, a single serving container of yogurt is a great, filling snack. Yogurt is great for its protein content which makes it filling, and it also has probiotics which is good for your gut health. Yogurt can be out of the fridge for up to two hours, so as long as you have your snack by then, this is a great option for a tasty, healthy snack on the go.

Roasted Chickpeas

Roasted chickpeas are another one you can make at home easily. You’ll just want to turn the oven to 400 degrees and bake them for 40 minutes, stirring them every 10 minutes or so. The great thing about chickpeas is that you can season them however you want. You can make spicy chickpeas, garlic chickpeas, balsamic chickpeas, the list goes on! Chickpeas are great for protein and soluble fiber.

Dried Fruit

Dried fruit is a delicious snack to bring on the go. There are plenty of store-bought options with no added sugars. Some common dried fruits include bananas, mangoes, cranberries, oranges, and mixes of dried fruit. These will provide a great deal of vitamins you might not be getting otherwise in your diet, and they are relatively low in calories. You can also make these at home with a dehydrator.

Protein Granola Bars
